OC STEM is partnering up with Ducommun Incorporated and the Los Angeles Chargers for the inaugural “STEM on the Sidelines” Challenge, kicking off this Fall!
Here’s the game plan:
Participating high school teams will be given a tech sandbox to build a football launcher, and compete against each other on Sunday, November 11th. Top 2 teams will be honored and recognized at the Los Angeles Chargers home game vs. Denver Broncos on Sunday, November 18th. Registration closes Friday, September 21st, and space is limited so apply asap!

Football Challenge details:
• 2 teams per school
• 6-8 students per team
• Each team receives a tech sandbox with microcontroller and various components
to design and build a football launcher
• Fabrication is highly encouraged (i.e. 3D printing, laser cutting) in addition to using
found items
• Performance component: launch for accuracy and launch for distance
• Video component: highlight STEM concepts and building of the device
• Winners based on scores in performance and video components
